The days as a cub scout are almost over...

Jakob (and Olaf!) attended the last "Pine Wood Derby". Very successful! The "cross over" to a boy scout is coming closer...

Another year...

One year older again!

I thought we were just celebrating his first two digit birthday...

I guess he could make a living as cabinet maker. So gorgeous!

Sometimes he still surprises me...

My husband really surprised me this Christmas: he gave me a weekend in D.C as a gift! (I am usually our travel guide, who choose and books the trips.) Just loved it- my favorite type of gift!

So, we spent last weekend with Obama ( not directly, of course) . This was not our first visit to D.C. but I am always impressed with the huge variety of great museums there. Amazing!!! And they are all for free. My favorite was the Museum of Art (the department of modern art, especially!) this time.

And we payed respect to Martin Luther King, it was his birthday (the new Memorial is very impressive).

One of the best things: you can walk everywhere, no need to take a bus.

I am ready to be surprised again...maybe next weekend??

Ps. Olaf chose also a really cool place to stay and eat...

The same procedure as every year...

I always wandered about people who go to the same place for vacation for many years, but look at us... It is already a tradition: the day after Christmas we are going to Vermont for skiing. To our excuse I have to say we also meet there with our fiends from Connecticut ( and not just for skiing!).

So, as usual, we had relaxing days with not a lot of snow but great company, delicious food and good drinks!
