Jakob, the boy scout

Yes, he crossed the bridge...to adulthood. Not really, not yet! But he is not a cub scout anymore. When he started, almost 4 years ago, I never thought it would last for long. Our son, an American scout?? I was proven wrong, he just loves it (and that is all what matters).
We will see how the first over night camping trip (without mom and dad!) goes...I am a little sceptic, but maybe I will be proven wrong again, maybe he really crossed the bridge... But did I already?

A perfect Sunday

Where? In New York, of course!
We started the day with a jazz brunch at Blue Note in West Village, with a nice drink and a lot of good music. Then we walked through the streets of the (very trendy!) Meat Packing District in the sun, visited the Chelsea Market and some other hip places, and finished the day with a dinner at the Spice Market. And watched people! (The best thing to do in the city for free!). And the sunset over the Hudson River...
On the ride home I turned back to see the skyline of Manhattan by night: the Empire State Building illuminated in red-white-blue...
That is the way to spend a Sunday!
NYC- you are the best!!!

Happy Hearts Day!

It is the same story with Halloween: we know it in Germany, we celebrate it in Germany too, but you need to live in the USA to really get it. Valentine's Day!
In the chocolates stores and in the restaurants it looks like in a zoo, like Christmas and Eastern together.
But I love to have an excuse to get and give gifts, to eat tons of delicious (dark!) chocolate and to go out with my "sweat heart"... and for some romance, of course!

Star Wars Fever

Jakob tries (already for years) to make us to Star Wars fans. I have to admit: quite successful. We watched the Episode 1 in 3D on Saturday. The whole story reminds me of a greek drama. (Aristoteles probably is turning around in his grave right now.) Ha, ha...I am really getting into it!

An American holiday: the Super Bowl!

It is not really a holiday, at least not an official one...but an American tradition. And we were part of it!!
To be honest, you have to be American to understand what is going on, and I do not mean just the football field. We still had a lot of fun!
Our friends came over and we enjoyed together some junk food (also traditional) and a few drinks while watching the game. And the ads of course!! Hard to say what was more entertaining...
But we are getting into it... Game on! Go Giants!!
