The summer season officially started...

At least in our Club Restaurant at the Lake!
Memorial Day traditionally opens the American summer season. So did we... with a drink on the patio at the lake on Sunday, where we walked ..! And we made it even back! Then, on Memorial Day followed our (also traditional!)  barbecue party with friends.
A good start, so far!

Wow! Bravo!!!

What a concert! We just got back. Not from New York...but from our Middle School! Jakob and the school band were performing. Amazing, how much they learned during this year. The school music program (five hours saxophone per week)  definitely is paying off. When they played Mission Impossible I truly got chills. Even Tom Cruise would be pretty impressed. Maybe he hires the band for his next movie...
Until then we get the concerts at home for free...

Bears for Mother's Day!

We had quite the visitors for Mother"s Day: four black bears! Mama Bear and three young bears ( they already were a pretty good size...). I guess they were celebrating the day too and taking their mom out for dinner...thank God, not to our house...
Unfortunately, by the time I got my camera, just two of them were still at our fence.
And what is this??
The newest equipment for my fitness room: a rowing machine!
My husband always knows how to make me smile. He drew this picture of me on my machine. According to the look of my hair I must be very fast...
Thank you, honey! You are the best!
Happy Mother's Day!!! Prost!

The never ending project...

...it's your home! Or, in this case: ours! But we are getting there...
Besides all the garden work, which we don't like but have to do, we are still trying to complete (ha, ha)  the interior of our house.
Yeah, the joy of owning a house  (and living in suburbia).
Our newest (home) buy is a painting.
Last Saturday, when Jakob was off with the scouts Olaf and I escaped our suburban "slavery" and went to NYC for the day. We had a blast, as usual, and came home with this souvenir. It looks great and we love it!
And Olaf finalized one of his many projects: a stand for our statue, made from a fallen tree in our back yard! (After Sandy there are still plenty of them.)
It was not so easy to carry it into the living room (let's just hope the wooden construction of our house will hold this weight...).
Now, we are busy with reorganizing our dining and living rooms... Like I said, never ending...

Ps. Jakob, who meanwhile developed into a really good saxophone player, complained that  the subject of the painting is a trumpet player. I would say, we need to go back to NYC and get the saxophone player too. There may be still one wall free in this house...ha,ha
