Happiness is...

...a relaxing Saturday afternoon in the back yard with the chain saw! At least for Olaf. He is working on a stand for our new statue "The Thinker". It seems to make him happy...look at this smile!
Viva suburbia!
What makes me happy? For example, a nice dinner (a cucumber martini included) at the new Italian place in our town!
What about Jakob? Since he entered the puberty age, a smiling face isn't cool anymore, and the word "happy" is banned from his vocabulary.
But, when mom makes his favorite "Star wars" burritos he can't resist...

"Are you ready for this?" - Queen on stage in Newark!

Not the real one...but Gary Mullen and the Works reproduced (very successfully) the band's original famous stage show. So, we listened and sang (and even danced!) to "We Will Rock You" and other Queen hits at NJ PAC in Newark.
Jakob was too cool to admit it, but he truly enjoyed the show. It was a lot of  fun, though we couldn't hear anymore afterwards. Probably getting too old for a rock concert...

The St. Joseph medal...

...is a high honor to receive as a recognition for all the good work you do. And nobody deserves it more than our friend Bill.
Sunday was a big day for him and we attended the celebration, first in the cathedral in Hartford, Connecticut and then in his ( and our previous and beloved!) home town of Milford.
It also gave us the opportunity to see all our friends. Many reasons to celebrate...What a day!

A suburban Sunday

The main ingredients for a perfect Sunday in our suburbia: sunshine, a trail at the lake, a dog, and a husband! Maybe not in this order...
And who needs Starbucks, when my husband makes a latte like this one!

Easter in Philadelphia, part 2

Yes, we decided to spend this Easter in Philadelphia, again. What a good choice!
We started our trip with a visit to the Penn Museum (Jakob's teacher recommended it), where Jakob really could show off. We were impressed how much he learned about Egypt. There is still some hope...ha,ha.
Our hotel was a great deal at Jetsetter (Hotel Monaco), with a wonderful view over the historic district, right across from the Liberty Bell.
The highlight of this trip was definitely the Rodin Museum!!! "The Thinker", I know him from all my philosophy books, here he was in front of me!
And so many other famous sculptures, like "The Kiss", and most impressive "The Gate to Hell".
You can not top this!
Maybe with a stroll through the streets of south Philly... Or with a dinner at an excellent Spanish restaurant...
Sunday belonged to the Museum of Art. Wow! Almost everybody knows the stairs from the "Rocky" movies. The huge art collection is stunning!
We enjoyed the  unusual " Outsider collection" the most.

Needless to say, the Easter bunny found us even in Philadelphia...

But how did this "Thinker" find his way to our home??
