In the Lego paradise

While our niece was enjoying the view over Manhattan from the Rockefeller Center, Jakob  was enjoying the Lego store across the center.
And me? I was enjoying the city life...and watching people. New York has it all!!!
And then we found a place we all liked: Central Park! Of course!
Just love that city!

Two teenagers in the house!

That gives us some funny situations, so far... Our niece from Germany is staying with us for three weeks. Britt is 15 and seems to have some influence on our son, for example he eats all his vegetables (she is vegetarian) right now, and minds eating his favorite chocolate bars. One of many funny situation, at least for us parents.
Yesterday we took our niece to one of the most exciting places: New York City (our son did not complain once during the whole trip!). We waved Lady Liberty from the Ferry, payed our respect at the Ground Zero, walked over the Brooklyn Bridge and strolled through  the China Town. What a day!
The other parts of Manhattan will be on the schedule in the next two weeks.
Welcome in the USA!

Visiting my first love: Connecticut

First love is one you never forget...like Connecticut, our first destination in the USA. We fell in love there: with the country, the people, the ocean, the beach and...and...
When we moved to New Jersey we left not just our favorite spot but especially dear friends.
So we take any chance we get to visit both, for example our friends birthday!
It was a very nostalgic trip - like remembering your first love...

Sailing with Johnny Depp in Maine

Maybe not exactly with him but on the Schooner Yacht "Heron" Johnny Depp used for his movie "The Rum Diary"! The sunset sailing trip (with two other couples and a bottle of wine) definitely was the highlight of our Maine Vacation!
And we even had some more highlights! For example the seals we watched on our ship tour to Monhegan island. And the dolphins!
The island herself was a highlight too! We went for long hike around this rocky island, with spectacular views.
Another highlight was the discovery of the small village New Harbor, where we watched the fisher boats coming back, loaded with lobsters. We saw the whole procedure until they were loaded on the trucks. And we ate there: a delicious lobster roll of course! By the way: Kevin Costner and Paul Newman were there too! Unfortunately a few years ago, while filming "Message in a bottle" - bad movie but a great place!
One of the highlights  were our biking tours. Especially starting from the cute and quiet village Rockport.
What else did we do? Played a lot of tennis, swam in the pool and enjoyed food and wine with ocean view at our resort. I can just highly recommend the Samoset Resort, also a highlight!
Did I mention our long walks at the ocean?! And all these gorgeous lighthouses?!
I could go on and on...
Maine - a highlight! Again!

Forgot to mention the sailing race in front of our resort!
